Rings of Fortune Online Slot – Review
With the disappearance of Microgaming’s famous The Lord of the Ring slot, the fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s work had to find other slots that exploit the theme. Novomatic’s Rings of Fortune is one of them, but is it up to par? Let’s see.
Rings of Fortune Online Slot – General Info
To start with, this 5-reel, 10-line title is one of the standard video slots, with simplistic graphics and vivid, bright colours. The only relatively unusual thing compared to the visuals of other old-school video slot games is that all of its options are hidden behind a Menu button.
You are welcomed to the game by a smiling Gandalf-like wizard, and once you’re in, the reels will reveal the Ring of Fortune, standard poker symbols, an Elf princess, a nobleman, etc. As soon as you start spinning, you’ll realise why Rings of Fortune online slot is not as successful as some other Novomatic adventure slots: it produces annoying classic slot sounds which have nothing to do with the theme, and it doesn’t pay very well.
The bet range is also not for every playing taste – the amounts on offer are from GBP1 to GBP1000 per line. That means up to GBP10000 per spin?!
On a more positive note, whichever line bet you choose, you stand a chance at winning a progressive jackpot amount. Just remember, the higher your bet, the higher the jackpot amount you could win. Besides the jackpot, there’re also top prizes of 2500x line bet and 2500x total bet for five Gandalf and five scatter symbols, respectively.
Rings of Fortune Special Features
When it comes to special features, there are some nice ones to benefit from. That is, if you manage to get them. The first one is the already mentioned wizard wild, which not only welcomes you to this adventure, but substitutes for other symbols (except scatter) and can potentially win you the jackpot. The scattered Rings are the ones to keep an eye on, as they award the massive prize of 2500x bet, and trigger a round of 15 free spins when three or more of them hit the reels. When the reels start spinning, the wizard symbols will be held throughout one free spin and expand to occupy the entire reel. And if it happens that all five expanded Gandalf symbols hit the reels, you’ll get the progressive jackpot (or its portion, depending on your bet).
Finally, for the thrill-thirsty among us, any winnings can be gambled again in the Gamble feature. But since better prizes are quite difficult to get in “Rings of Fortune”, we don’t recommend using this option quite frequently.
At the end, we can only conclude that Novomatic could’ve done better when making this LotR-based title. It’s not a bad slot altogether, but there’s much room for improvement in this 10-line release, which we hope to see in its updates in near future.
